About the TransCareBC Collaboration

The Collaboration

Trans Care BC is a program coordinated under Provincial Health Services Authorities (PHSA) to enhance and coordinate trans health services and supports across the province, bringing gender-affirming care closer to home wherever possible.

In 2017/18, Trans Care BC piloted three streams of community funding opportunities for peer and community support providers and community members across BC to develop new peer support projects or enhance existing services. This funding (up to $8,000) is just one step toward our long-term goal of building more regional and provincial support for transgender, Two-Spirit, and gender diverse people and their families and communities.

PeerNetBC partnered with Trans Care BC to support approved applications by community members leading projects without the direct support of a non-profit organization. This connection to PeerNetBC provided projects and communities with the opportunity to carry out grassroots initiatives while being offered administrative support (including financial).

PeerNetBC was excited to partner with Trans Care BC through 2017/18 pilot grants as well as 2018/19 Peer & Community Support Funding. Through this partnership, we were able to provide support and collaboration with 12 peer support initiatives throughout the province. Please visit the Trans Care BC website here to learn more about current and past Trans Care BC Community Grants.
