PeerNetBC

Hi there! We’re PeerNetBC, a non-profit organization that supports the capacity building of multiple networks and partners by providing training, workshops, intergenerational mentorship, consultation, community collaboration, and a variety of community engagement initiatives focusing on lived and shared experience. We use anti-oppressive, intersectional, peer-support based, and decolonizing values to guide our work. We are a team that delivers impactful, fun, and valuable experiences. Us

• We are a non-hierarchical, peer-led organization. Organizational tasks and responsibilities are distributed among five working teams (circles) who co-lead PeerNetBC and get things done! This radical structure creates space for individual interests and goals, meaningful engagement, and equitable opportunities for leadership and personal and vocational growth.
• The Programs Circle stewards internal projects, custom workshops, collaborations, and community engagement. We are focused on service delivery and utilize anti-oppressive, decolonizing, peer support-based, and disability justice lenses, to facilitate personal and community change.
• Our team is a collection of fun loving, playful, nerdy misfits that found each other being passionate about community liberation work!

You

You are an experienced facilitator with the ability to leap into workshop delivery (online/in-person) for organizations and community partners throughout BC. In your role, you will also have the opportunity to participate in other organizational operations based on your skills and interests.

• We encourage applicants that identify with multiple-marginalized, intersectional identities such as: people with disabilities, D/deaf, Hard of Heading, Mad, neurodivergent, sick and chronically ill, “low” experience, “young person,” 2SLGBTQAI+ and/or BIPOC applicants.
• Are a youth yourself, and/or have experience and desire to facilitate youth programming intentionally and relevantly.

The Role

Workshop design, facilitation and community consultation with a commitment to center intersectional anti-oppression, decolonial practice and disability justice frameworks. You would work primarily with the Programs Circle, but will have opportunities to be involved in other circle work depending on interest and capacity.

• Will meet every Tuesday and Wednesday morning approx. 10:00am – 12:30pm for weekly circle and team meetings.
• Will be involved in shared decision making as it relates to Programming, and to PeerNetBC as a whole
• Will help to maintain community connections and partnerships, and support the ongoing tasks of the programs circle
• Will be available to facilitate workshops evenings and occasionally weekends.
• Specific dates we already know we would need you to work: The Winter Series: Jan 11, 6:00-8:30pm; Jan 19, 1:00-3:30pm; Jan 21st, 10:00am-12:30pm

This Would be Nice Too:

• Interest in graphic design and visual communications
  • Design that balances pleasant visuals with accessibility, contrast, and designing for different digital spaces, tools, disabilities and accommodations
  • Familiar with Mailchimp and Eventbrite
  • Graphic design platform / Adobe Creative Suite
  • Digital workshop tools: Powerpoint, Google Slides, Miro, Jamboard, Zoom

Compensation & Benefits:

• Compensation: $28/hour, paid sick and vacation time and extended health benefits

    • 16 hours/week, 6 month contract with extension based on funding resources
    • Predominantly working remotely with the option to work in Downtown Vancouver office — some in person work in Lower Mainland required
